NFT-installations made of

3D-artworks

+

on-chain backup artworks

The artworks in this series address the materiality of internet infrastructure by focusing on sites and structures centripetal to it. Conceived as a form of digital land art, these conceptual NFT-installations are made of multiple parts. This innovative facet of their execution serves both ideological & technical purposes.

Each NFT-installation covers both 3D-artworks in GLB-format and their on-chain backup blueprint(-s) minted on 8bidou. These blueprints are stored on-chain on Tezos & are designed as artworks in their own right, but most importantly they can be used to recreate the full artwork without any data loss. Depending on the geometry of the 3D artwork, the blueprints may be in 3 parts (XY + YZ + ZX) or in just 1 part in which the colours’ shade determines the location of the feature on the depth axis.

These 3D-NFTs don't rely on any external data or url-links. It is all in the Tezos blockchain & the art is there for as long as it & the internet exists.

Dude, Where's My Data?

2022

The subject of this artwork is an NSA (National Security Agency) facility in Utah that stores the most data of any place in the world. The artwork subjects the NSA to the same conditions internet users are subjected to: not in control of their data.

Since the activities at the 1+ million sq. ft. "Utah Data Center" are classified, the only data available of it is the existence of the facility: what it looks like & the coordinates of it.

Now nothing short of taking down the Tezos blockchain can remove this data from the internet.
